A Request From My Mom.......

About a week ago I got a call from my mom in Colorado. She had a special request that she was hoping I could help her with. You see she is a dental assistant at a childrens dental office and they have some silly contests here and there around the holidays. This year for Easter they needed to come up with an Easter Bonnet that they have to wear and then the kids will be voting on them for their favorites. It's been a rough couple of weeks for my mom so she asked me to make her one. I of course told her yes! Immediatly an idea ran through my head and I set out to find a straw hat. I headed down to the local antique shop and found one for $8.00 bucks! Can't beat that price!!!! I bought it home and as you can see from the photos, cut,trimmed,glued and went to town on this baby. I still have a few things to add but my gluegun pooped out tonight and brought my work to a halt. I will be returning it to Walmart asap because it was practically brand new. Kinda peeved over that but oh well. I put a few last things on it tonight and had my almost 16 year old son model it for me since Emma and her daddy were at a birthday party today. He is such a sport and I think it's a great way to get back at him for all the not so nice things that he throws my way from time to time. TEEEEHEEEEEEE!!!!!!! So enjoy some pics and have a good laugh.

I plan to add some pretty ribbon around the egss once I replace my gluegun and add a few more pretties to it. I added some big bows to the bottom also. All in all the only thing that I paid for was the hat! Talk abouta great deal and now she has a treasure to display on Easter!!!!!!!

Ahhhhhhh the weekend and a few Vintage Images

It has been a heck of a week here at home. On friday Feb 12th we lost my late grandmothers twin at the age of 75. My mom flew out to be with her in Memphis. Sadly I could not be there. I did get to say my goodbyes to her over the phone, i just hope that she heard me. Now her and my grandma are back together again for eternity and that gives me peace of mind. She will be greatly missed. Here soon I hope to get some pics of them together to post and share here but I do have a few of my gramma that id like to share and since they were identical, well you know.:) You may use these images as you wish but please please share with me what you do with them as it will make my heart smile. My grandma and aunt were very classy ladies. Kinda like a Shirley Temple, June Cleaver with a little Lucille Ball thrown into the mix. :) On another note ,I am giddy over having some more followers and as soon as I hit 50 I will be doing a giveaway :) Have a great weekend everyone!!!(update:i found one of them together!!! Ta-Daaaaaaaa

Well everything is up and running at Ramshackled Treasures and I love it!!!! Here is a pic sectioned in 3 pics to give you an idea what it looks like. I wish it was bigger. I have really enjoyed sewing and putting this all together the last 3 weeks. My family has been very patient and supportive and I am sooooo thankful!!!!!! I am also thankful to Stacey, the owner of the store for giving me a chance to do this. I have stalled for soo long and have been so afraid to take this leap and Stacey has made it very easy and comphy for me, so THANK YOU Stacey!!! I cant wait to add some more goodies to my space. I have the room for it :) I hope that you all had a great holiday. We just staed home and relaxed. Hubby got me roses that smell ohhhh so yummy. I'll be back in a few days after I catch up on some much needed sleep. I is TIRED!!!! :) (ps. i just realized if you click on the pic it gets bigger) theres my der moment ;)

A Teeeenie Bit Giddy!!!!

So as I prepare to get things ready for my adventure at Ramshackled Treasures as a new dealer there I went on a search all over the internet to look for a cupcake tower for my Faux Cupcakes. Well after searching and searching, not liking anything i saw, not liking the price of any of them, I thought to myself......"self, what are you doing? You can make one yourself" Well DER!!!!! So today I pulled some things from the craftroom and made my kitchen a mess(im crafting in the kitchen right now with different projects because we have a new puppy and im not letting her in my craftroom until she is house trained) not a big mess but still ya know how it goes. I went to town and an hour later or so this is what I came up with!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!! Every ounce of it I love. I thought about doing a tutorial about half way through and said well maybe I'll do that next time. I think I will make more as I have the supplies for anoter, but I can tell you that I didnt have to purchase 1 thing. Everything was in the craftroom! DOUBLE YAY!!!!!! So here it is, my 1st Cupcake Tower to display my faux cupcakes at the shop! I am a giddy girl!!!!!

Total Sweetness that looks good enough to eat..but you cant!

I am signed up for Cassandras Sugar and Spice Ezine and I have to say so far I am in LOVE with all the tips and tricks she has shared with us! These faux cupcakes , all 42, yes i said 42, are just yummy enough to eat but I wont because I can't. And that is really tooooooo bad because they are yummy lookin enough to just gobble down! I had my 3 year old daughter help decorate them and she just couldn't understand why we couldn't eat them. It was very cute to see her reaction. So if ya wanna learn about all the goodieness, for a very small fee you can sign up and join in the fun. Cassandra does a great job explaining all of her tips in great detail! I plan on selling some of these goodies at Ramshackled Treasures where I will be a dealer there. That's part of my other news that I wanted to share with you all. Finally I am ready to take a leap and sell lots of the goodies that I make. I will be setting up my space here next weekend so I promise to post pics and let you know how that process went of setting everything up. Until then I will be sewing like a mad woman all week and taking care of last minute details. It sure is allot to do to get ready for all of this!!!! I hope that you all have a great week!
