This is week 4 of the 12 weeks of christmas over at Red Writing. Did someone say FOOD? Well let me tell ya something about what goes on around here yonder! The day after Turkey day we start, and i mean START! The first step of this process is going to the ol' grocery store to get the suplies we need, like ya know CHOCOLATE, CARAMEl, NUTS, etc! We start our holiday by making CANDY!!! It's been a tradidtion in my husbands family since before he was born. Now relatives have come and gone and there arent many of us left, but my husbands mommy makes sure to make it as special as ever beacuse she knows how important it is to me to pass on these traditions to my children and every year it gets more and more special to me. I think it has to do with my daughter growing up and its fun to watch her help. i'll be standing back watching and a tear will stream down my cheek. It's hearwarming to say the least. Here in Minnesota where its ya know FREEZING, the candy molds perfectly. There are chocolate snowmen, santas, and to add this year a butter mold and i cant wait to use it. Its in the shape of a lamb. We make our candy inside and then take it out to the porch where we set up tables and let the candy mold get hard so we can pop em out and add them to our candy tins to give away to so many different people. This is definatly an all day project and I cant wait for it this year.Christmas dinner , oh i can smel it now! Honey glazed HAM! Sweet potatoes, rolls, green bean cassarol, rice, different kinds of dishes i cant even think of right now because i have the smell of ham in my mind! YUM!!!!!! Looks like i need to start my diet on the 1st so i can pig out come christmas!

What a great candy making tradition! I think you're on to something by starting a diet early in preparation for Christmas--good thinking!
